A day for Teachers in Catholic Schools, Catechists and other Parishioners

Praying the Mass
Prayer, Nourishment and Transformation
Professor Gerard Moore

Gerard is an engaging speaker with wide experience in teaching and researching catholic worship. He willingly takes questions and works with the experience of those present. He has worked closely with teachers and parishioners as they seek to understand the Mass, and has taught at theological colleges and universities in Australia. Most recently he has been appointed as Head of School of Theology, Charles Sturt University.

Amongst his publications are a number that deal directly with the celebration of the Mass, including Why the Mass Matters (St Pauls), Eucharist and Justice (Australian Catholic Social Justice Council), Understanding the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (St Pauls), Lord Hear Our Prayer: Praying the General Intercessions (St Pauls), and Earth Unites with Heaven: an introduction to the Liturgical Year
(Morning Star).

Gerard will:

  • Engage you as you explore the different parts of the Mass
  • Offer some historical background to the liturgy
  • Take you into current practice
  • Reveal the pastoral sensitivities in our celebration
  • Open up the way the Mass is arrayed to transform us and renew us.
