Some of the Missionaries of God’s Love (MGL) novices and priests will join us at our parish mission! These vibrant missionaries will work alongside parishioners to reach out to the local community and to assist in many of the sessions of the parish mission.
The MGLs, who were formed in Canberra in 1986, are priests and consecrated brothers who strive to live a radical life of poverty, obedience and celibacy. On February 8th 2014, the Vatican gave official approval for the Missionaries of God’s love to be established as a religious Institute.
They describe their mission in these terms: Jesus said, “I have come to bring fire to the earth and how I wish it were blazing already” The Missionaries of God’s Love exist to share Jesus’ mission to bring this fire to the earth. It is the fire of God’s love, burning in the heart of Jesus, which took Him to the Cross…With this fire burning within their hearts, they give all for the sake of the Kingdom and, commit themselves to the spreading of the Good News of God’s love to the ends of the earth.
An important part of their mission is to bring the Gospel to young people and those who are marginalised, unchurched or alienated in some way. They have missions in Canberra, Melbourne, Darwin and Manila (Philippines). Some short videos on their way of life can be found at the following YouTube links:
